Kelis Lodged Divorce From Nas , Her Husband For 5 Years

R&B singer Kelis has registered for divorce from rapper Nas, her husband for long 5 years and 9 months.

According to Vibe.com, who has obtained an official copy of the petition exclusively, an attorney for Kelis filed the paperwork today (Apr. 30) at around 3:45 pm (PST), citing irreconcilable differences.

A rep for Kelis told Vibe.com, “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce.” The split for the couple comes just a few months after the Kelis’ pregnancy has become a top story in media. Previously in January, Us weekly reported that Kelis and Nas were expecting. Last month, paparazzi snapped a glimpse of the pregnant Kelis out shopping with Nas.

The petition names the minor children as an unborn child due July 21, 2009. Reports say that the now estranged couple is having a boy. Nas has a 15-year old daughter from his previous relationship with Carmen Bryan.

As reported by the unnamed sources, Kelis’ spokesperson asked that the media to be little delicate in reporting the situation. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
