Optimism for “Fantasy Ride” success, Ciara pushes release to Spring 2009
The reaction to “Go Girl” was disappointingly weak so Ciara has had to push the release of “Fantasy ride” to Spring 2009.“Go Girl” hit the high point at a low No 78 on the Billboard charts and although much of the singers hopes of success rested on the single it failed its task of making Ciara a chart buster.
A Zomba representative however was optimistic, insisting that the white flags won’t be hoisted just as yet saying “It’s a nice setup single because the video introduces Ciara’s new look and her new body, but it’s not the opener.”
“Ciara opened very wide with her first album, which gave her a broad audience and crossover appeal. Her second album was a little more urban. With Fantasy Ride, they’re trying to strike a balance [between pop and urban] while looking for the right single.”
Ciara has fierce competitors to contend with like Rihanna and Britney and it’s an uphill task for her to promote her previous chart toppers “Goodies” and “Evolution” while at the same time portraying a more mature outlook in her life and music.
Meanwhile, Ciara has taken Justin Timberlake aboard “Fantasy Ride” and there is hope that collaboration between the two will give more sparks to the album.
Speaking on the release of the album, the representative maintained that “Right now, we are anticipating it for spring 2009, but we’re not gonna put another date on it.”

I think singers like Beyonce and Britney are in a different league altogether. Ciara does indeed face an uphill battle if she wants to compete with the likes of these type of singers. She still has a long way to go to garner that loyalty amongst her fans.
I think Ciara has what it takes to compete with both Britney and Beyonce personally. Her last album had some really nice tracks like ‘Evolution’ and ‘Goodies’… Granted that she does need to rethink how she wants to position her image, but her music has a lot of potential…
She must be heart broken “Go Girl” did not manage to do well on the Billboard charts. That is so sad. I am a big fan of her but it is also true that her competitors are too mighty. She has to work hard and struggle for a few years before she can equal the likes of singers like Rihanna and Britney.
