“If I Were A Boy” Knocks off “Hero” to take No1 in UK
Beyonce is on a roll! The Bootylicious singer rocketed her way to the top of the UK charts this week unseating X Factor Charity hit “Hero”.“Hero” which was recorded to benefit the Help for Heroes and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal became the fasting selling charity record of the decade and the fastest selling single of 2008 and was reigning champ of the UK charts until Beyonce’s “If I Were A Boy” knocked it off the hot seat with a quick move up from No 3.
According to the UK Charts Company Beyonce’s contemporary and fierce contender Rihanna moved down 2 notches to settle at No 4 with her partnership with T.I on “Live Your Life”.
Beyonce meanwhile is still at work to keep her flag flying high and was in Los Angeles over the weekend shooting the video for the latest single from her hit album “I Am…Sasha Fierce.”

Hey Bootylicious Babe Beyonce, you have managed to do it! It is really great to hear that you have gone so ahead of others and topped this week’s UK charts. Even Hero could not match your force I guess. So now, you are the new hero, the new trendsetter. “If I Were A Boy” did a great job - moving so quickly to the top from position 3.
She’s certainly my hero! All us girls with curves and skin like honey love the way Beyonce is keeping it real with songs about how we really feel. I’m not surprised If I were a boy has hit the top spot. In the UK or US (or India or Australia) women feel the same when they want to commit and raise a family and the man still wants to play around.
And it doesn’t hurt us guys to hear it coming from a babe like Beyonce. I’d down tools and get on home for her! Keep them chart hits coming sweetheart.
I liked Beyonce from the time she was with the group, Destiny’s Child. I think she is a brilliant singer with a powerful voice. However, with her new album and songs like “If I Were A Boy” and “Single Ladies”, it looks like she is enjoying one of the best phases of her career.
