I am amazed to discover that Stephanie Mills was a child prodigy who entered the limelight when she was all of 9 years. That was when she appeared for a play but ever since she has turned towards music, she has won millions of hearts. I hear her sweet “Never Knew Love Like This Before” again and over.
I really wish she kept winning more awards for her R & B music. Let her win more of Grammies and American Awards. I was there at the Yankee Stadium this year when she sang some of the best songs from many of her hit albums. The crowd was completely hysterical…
From Michael Jackson to Jeffrey Daniels eh? Isnt that a bit like swopping King Midas for Ratners jewellers? And wasn’t Jeffrey Daniels C3PO in Star Wars?
Omigod yes I remember her in The Wiz. We did a class project on The Wizard of Oz and our teacher told us about The Wiz and the politics behind it. But I didnt think that was the same person who did I never knew love like this before. I loved that. Altho it does irritate me when she puts her teeth together when she sings - know what I mean?
Damn Steph is fine! Such a beautiful sista, been fan of hers for years!
At age seven appeared in the Broadway musical, “Maggie Flynn” and at age fifteen won starring role as Dorothy in the hit Broadway show ‘The Wiz.’
Mills performed prior to Pope Benedict XVI celebrating Mass at Yankee Stadium in New York on April 20, 2008
She was romantically involved with Michael Jackson for a short period of time while she was doing The Wiz.
I knew Stephanie dated Michael back in the day. She spent the night over his house and washed his laundry! They made a cute couple!
Never Knew Love Like this Before - was the song that first turned me on to Stephanie Mills - one of the sweetest voices of her time, and an incredibly hardworking R&B artist. I think it is a credit to her that she survived all the furore surrounding The Wiz and still went on to become a respected vocalist.
