Rick James is the nephew of Melvin Franklin of the Temptations. Isn’t that great? Motown runs in the family. He was considered a rebel in the early 1980s. Now his funk music still got an edge to it incomparable to any current artist.

The writer to this article hit it right on the head. The first few notes of Rick James’ music make my hips move, and my feet tap a beat …and it just won’t go away. Not for the rest of the day at least…

The swaggering decadence of Rick James! Superfreak! The man certainly was a rebel and there was no excusing his bouts of bad behaviour (often drug fuelled) but along with that there was a sweet musician - the King of Funk!
